I bought it last November. I was curious about how it works under a real quake. Yesterday and today in Bogotá we experienced 3 earthquakes ( 6.2, 5.7, and 4.8 ) from a relatively close area near Bogotá. It worked as I expected. It gave us the alert seconds before some private alarms started to make noise when the earthquake happened. Not sure how much time it anticipated the S wave because of the panic. Still I’m happy to have some precious seconds to react.

At 4:14AM this morning, there was a 4.4 magnitude earthquake near Spring City, Tennessee. That’s over 300 miles from Indianapolis, Indiana. We have one of these in our data center and it went off! I was skeptical that this thing actually worked. But it did!!

We bought the alarm in Sept 2015. It was a fiddle to install but now it hangs discreetly in a corner in our basement. Dec 29, 2015 we had a 4.3M earthquake and it worked like a charm. I woke up to feel the house shaking and was second guessing whether it actually was an earthquake when I realized that the Quake Alarm was going off. That confirmed that it was really happening which then threw me into action. I’m not sure if it was triggered before the shaking started because I was asleep and it all happened so quickly but regardless I am very glad we have it!

Excellent device. Already have two. Alerted on Dec 29/15 to P wave about 12 to 15 seconds before S wave arrived. Epicentre was about 60 miles away. Enough time to wake up and prepare for shaking. 2 more Quake Alarms will ensure we hear the warning anywhere and anytime in house.

I set up these alarms in the Dominican Republic (Bought 2 of them). They detected an earth quake off the coast of Puerto RIco about 1 month after I installed them. They really work! You just have to take some time to calibrate them once you place them on the wall. It took me a few days to adjust the sensitivity to avoid it from going off with passing trucks.

Turned out to be a pretty cool purchase so since its relevant now I’m writing a review. I live about 90 miles from Ridgecrest and the alarm has been sounding off for all the earthquakes above about a 4.5. Those are the ones you want to know about anyway. If it was more sensitive and went off for smaller ones below 4.0 it would be really annoying and I would’ve stopped using it along time ago. The alarm sound is a chime that’s loud enough to wake you up and get your attention but it’s not obnoxious and awful like a smoke detector. I’m glad I bought it now, it was totally worth it.

It just worked on a 3.9 earthquake, and I’m amazed. I got this after the quake several weeks ago in California. My husband didn’t even wake up, I woke up just at the end. I started looking for an alert and decided to give this a try without much expectation. To my suprise, just as we were sitting tonight, it started ringing. I jumped up, told my daughter to get down from her bunk bed then hold still to see if we will shake. I didn’t feel anything but soon enough an alert from QuakeFeed app popped up on my phone for a 3.9 quake at 41miles away. It really works. I told kids to be alert if they hear this. I think it will give several minutes to get our mind ready and hopefully wake us up if we are sleeping. Also, as a person who witnessed some quakes, the first several minutes you become really dumb, not understanding what is happening. This will be a good alert to realize it is indeed a quake.

I live in Guatemala City and we have everyday earthquakes from 2.0 to 5.8 last one I checked. I set my alarm to quakes above 3 and works perfectly. It gives you a clear alarm of earthquake and enough time to evacuate!!

We live and serve in Kathmandu, Nepal. I installed this alarm on the wall outside our bedrooms just one week before the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25, 2015. We were actually in church and not at home when the first earthquake hit, but the alarm sounded three days before the earthquake after detecting a micro tremor. So when the earthquake came, we were already mentally conscientious and quick to respond.

We were home for the second earthquake – a 7.4 magnitude – on May 12, 2015. The earthquake was about 50 miles away. The alarm alerted us about 4 seconds before the S wave came giving us enough time to respond. We would have been alerted quicker, but I turned the sensitivity way down after the first earthquake because of all the aftershocks and micro tremors.

I would highly recommend this product. In fact, I am having five more brought over for friends and neighbors. All of our neighbors are thanking us for having the alarm because it is so loud it warns everyone around us.

Paid off last night! Last night a 6.4 and a 6.5 hit north of Puerto Rico at midnight. This quake was close to us and it still gave us about a 10 second head start to get in the right mindset to face what was coming. I live in the 2nd floor of a 12 story building. I’ve had it in the same wall (has never fallen off) with the same battery for about 2 years, maybe more.

Now even happier with this purchase.

While living in California, we used this detector In our home. It went off for minor earthquakes, and was triggered with the foreshocks of larger earthquakes. The further away the quake, the more advance notice we had. Because of the sensitivity control, we were able to set it so it did not trigger when heavy trucks drove by, but so that we got actual alerts. It was accurate, and worked very well.

We had it on an inside wall, and our home was on raised foundation, an ideal combination for accuracy.
